Game Day

Being a Family Ministry Director, Sunday is the biggest game day for my team and I. It is the day that we work toward every week. Leaders, teachers and helpers spend countless hours in prayer and preparation all week long to get to Sunday morning. We hope God blesses our efforts and seeds are planted in the hearts and heads of the kids and students we minister to.

We pray that the first few minutes of every Sunday morning operates like a finely oiled machine. Sometimes the gears get stuck and things go haywire. Check out this link for a funny story entitled "Not knowing how to drop a kid off at Sunday School." I think it will make you chuckle.

See you next Sunday!

A Personal Goal...

...accomplished! I completed my first 5K this past Saturday at the Nashville Predators Fangtastic event. I couldn't have done it without the support of my great family and friends, especially Cliff & Val who never left my side the whole race. We had so much fun. We're looking forward to who we can recruit to run with us next year!

Dale, Caiden and Dawson decorated our refrigerator with special banners that they colored. They read "Go Mommy Go!"

The official timing tag on my shoe.

Dawson's Creepy Pick

Grammie & Papa sent the boys money to buy a "Valentine's Day" present for themselves. So, we headed to Target to get something really cool. Caiden picked out this Batman set with a helicopter. And then, Dawson picked out 2 squishy frogs. I have no clue why he wanted these crazy creatures and I tried to sway him in to getting several other things that would have been more practical. But, sometimes you just have to pick your battles. So, these creepy frogs (with red eyes) are now a part of our family. Ugh!

My Valentine

I love you Honey...Happy Valentine's Day!

"Valentine" by Martina McBride
If there were no words
No way to speak
I would still hear you
If there were no tears
No way to feel inside
I'd still feel for you
And even if the sun refused to shine
Even if romance ran out of rhyme
You would still have my heart until the end of time
You're all I need, my love, my Valentine
All of my life
I have been waiting for
All you give to me
You've opened my eyes
And showed me how to love unselfishly
I've dreamed of this a thousand times before
But in my dreams I couldn't love you more
I will give you my heart
Until the end of time...
You're all I need, my love, my Valentine

The eyes have it

While in Michigan last weekend, we went to the Mid-Michigan Children's Museum. They had so many exhibits for the kids to play with. It was very similar to the Discovery Center in Murfreesboro, TN. One part of the museum had a huge wall of glasses so kids could try on different frames and read eye charts. My mom and I couldn't help but get in on it too. It was so much fun! Doesn't Caiden look like a mini Harry Potter?

It's all about the shoes

In just 2 short days (oh my!), I will run my first 5k, the Predators Fangtastic 5K. Am I nervous? Naw...I'm petrified! But, one thing I do have going for me - I bought new shoes about 2 weeks ago. And, from what I hear from seasoned runners, the shoes help a lot. Get ready Nashville 'cause all you are going to see is the blue streaks off these sneakers (ok, I know...its wishful thinking, but can't a girl hope?!).

It's Coming...

...on Sunday. The 51st running of the Daytona 500 Nascar race. I am so ready for race season. So, you'll find me on the couch in front of the TV for the next several months worth of Sundays, watching racing and snoozing during the caution flags. Go Gordon #24!

Pray for Granny

We're in Michigan visiting Dale's granny (pictured here in the rocking chair). She celebrates her 90th Birthday on Februray 12th. She hasn't been well lately. If you get a chance, please say a prayer for her - that God will work in this situation. Hope to be home soon. Its way too cold for me!

Superbowl Sunday

I almost forgot to post our Superbowl pictures. We enjoyed our small group; good food and good friends. What more could you ask for? And, I'm sure I'm going to get it for posting these pictures! I love you gals!

The makings of 2 twin beds

What once began as a pile of lumber, will soon become 2 twin beds for our little boys. Dale made our bed about 5 years ago and had a desire to make the boys their very own bed. I thought it was a great idea! Of course, grandpa gets to help too. Don't you love the orange hat? I'll update you with a look when they get finished.

The Red Bandanna

I put a red bandanna on my head yesterday as I prepared to go running. When I stepped outside, this conversation took place between Caiden and Jules, our little neighbor girl.
Jules: Hey Caiden, look at your mom.
Caiden: Yeah, she looks like a pirate!
I just had to say "argh!" under my breath. Those comments kept me smiling during my run.
