The Cicada Invasion

This past Wednesday morning was the first I noticed our Cicada invasion.  The Cicada lives underground most of their life and emerge every 13 years.  This is the year for us!

The Cicada emerges from the ground looking like this.

Then they molt and emerge from their shell, with wings and beady red eyes.

The brown hard shell is left behind.

Happy 7th Birthday Caiden!

It is hard to believe how fast the years have gone...we can't believe you are already 7.  You have grown in to such a great boy.  We pray that you continue to develop a heart that seeks after God.  We can't wait to see what He has planned for you, Sweet Boy!

CLC Balloon Launch

Dawson's preschool program held a balloon launch the Thursday before Easter.

The kids were so excited!

They released the balloons together and yelled..."Jesus is Alive!"

Here they are...watching!

The school did get a note back that someone found one of the balloons in Oak Ridge, TN. 
About 100 miles west...really cool.

Joe P. Rally 5k - April 16, 2011

After training with the Couch-to-5K program since January, I was ready for the 5K on April 16th. 

The race was in Nashville's Centennial Park.  Caiden enjoyed the scenery in the park including this very old steam engine.

All the proceeds from this race benefited childhood cancer research. It is in memory of "Joseph P." who passed away a few years ago from a childhood cancer at the age of 4.

Baseball - Spring 2011 - Mets & Braves

The 2011 spring baseball season is in full swing.  Dawson plays every Saturday from 8-9 am.  Caiden practices 2 nights during the week and then we usually have 1-2 games each week.  It keeps us busy but it is fun and the boys really enjoy it.  Dawson is just learning so he plays many different positions.  Caiden is playing first base this season and growing more in that position.

The fire department had one of their trucks at the opening day ceremonies so Cole was able to check out one of the tires.  Then...he realized he could see himself in it!

Spring Break 2011

Cardinal Chase 2011 - A Pirate's Tale

At Caiden's school, they have a spring fundraiser called the "Cardinal Chase."  This year's theme was all about "A Pirate's Tale."  The kids raise money by asking for pledges/donations for running laps.  The kids have a lot of fun and the volunteers do a fantastic job of putting on the event.
