Papa's Big Surprise

So...here's a little diddy about Papa's birthday party. Our big engagement party for my sister was actually a planned "SURPRISE" party for Caiden and Dawson's Papa's #60th birthday. Low and behold, he was pleasantly surprised and is still trying to figure out if it really was for him. We had about 140 of his closest friends and family show up for a great afternoon of partying. I'll post pictures soon. We're headed home tomorrow.

Hanging out...

Just hanging out in Michigan farm country this weekend getting geared up for my sister's engagement party. More to come on this... We left Nashville on Wednesday and it was about 90 degrees. We're just about freezing here. Its only in the 70s and absolutely no humidity. What's a girl going to complain about, if you can't complain about the weather, right?!! Miss you guys in Tennessee.

And...then there was rock.

Here's another update on our landscape project. The rock for the new beds we put in the front of our house arrived on Memorial Day. We remembered the day by putting down fabric weed block, installing our new path and up lights and shoveling rock. It was a hard but very productive day. Its so refreshing when you accomplish something!

The Graduate

Caiden graduated from preschool last week. It was a teary-eyed ceremony for me but he was so proud and excited. Each child marched out in their caps to the traditional graduation music and set down a hand printed stone in the rock garden. Then, they were each asked what they wanted to be when they grew up.

Caiden's answer (which hasn't changed since he was 3 years old) was that he wanted to be a doctor. We're not sure where that ever came from but he's never wavered from that response. With all his determination, there's not a doubt that one day he won't be an incredible doctor.

The ceremony continued while the kids sang 3 songs and finally got to ring "the bell" (a famous landmark at the church building where they attend mom's day out). The staff then provided all the kids and parents with lunch. It was a wonderful ending to a great school year.

It seems like the milestones keep coming and before we know it, it will be time for kindergarten in August. Whew...I'm trying to be strong!

Another Project Update - Concrete!

In our quest to redo the landscaping in our front yard, we decided to have a fresh, curvy, concrete sidewalk poured. Oh, much joy it was when that day arrived. It turned out so good too! Plus, Dale and I didn't have to haul any concrete. We've been there, done that and I'm never going to do it again if I don't have too.
